Discovering the repurposed upcycle potential.

How to Upcycle

The care and keeping of upcycled items varies, but fabric pieces benefit from special care. Upcycled stuffed toys are similar to pillows, they wash much better if laundered in a machine that does not have an agitator as the agitator tends to displace the batting. Place the toy in a mesh laundry bag on the gentle cycle.

Why to Upcycle

  • Upcycling is not a new concept. In the age of thrift (1920's-50's) families reused almost everything. The old became new again, but with a twist.

  • Thrift is still a trend today which inspires people to upcycle.

  • Positively impacts the environment. Items destined for the dump are rescued and remade into something useful, memorable and inspirational.

  • One of the biggest reasons ReTwist-T promotes upcycling, and repurposing, is we enjoy the artistic aesthetic and camaraderie which can be very healing, both mentally and physically.

Who can Upcycle

According to Denise (on staff painter, graphic designer and commercial illustrator) ANYONE can upcycle, the real skill is re-envisioning with a purpose while keeping the original character of the piece.

When to Upcycle

The Upcycling journey often begins with an old worn out heirloom or special piece that you want to keep, restore its beauty, or give it a fresh perspective. Be brave! There is no such thing as "breaking it" or "messing it up". Experimentation with restoration provides a guaranteed sense of accomplishment when the upcycle is a success!

Repurpose Glass

Are you aware that billions of bottles are thrown away every year? Did you know that one recycled glass bottle can conserve enough energy to run a computer for around 25 minutes? If that’s not a reason for repurposing old glass bottles, know that there is an incredible range of glassware available and endless opportunities for creativity!
